About Isaiah Jones Jr.

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Isaiah Jones Jr. began playing piano at his church at the age of nine. He attended Milwaukee High School of the Arts, where he matured musically as a performer and bandleader, playing gigs throughout the city. It was also during this time that he studied at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music under the guidance of Mark Davis, sharpening his jazz foundation and ear for improvisation. Throughout his high school years, Jones developed versatility—playing piano, bass, drums, and organ at church and local venues, sometimes switching instruments from week to week.

Isaiah’s musical talents earned him numerous honors, including the Charles Mingus Outstanding Soloist Award in New York and the prestigious Milwaukee Black Excellence Award, which recognized his achievements in music.

After high school, Jones went on to study jazz at Northern Illinois University under the mentorship of Reggie Thomas. He earned his bachelor’s degree in jazz studies and is currently completing his master’s degree at NIU. Now based in Chicago, Isaiah has become a highly sought-after pianist in the Midwest, known for his rich harmonic sensibility, deep groove, and stylistic adaptability.

He has performed and collaborated with leading voices in jazz including Brian Lynch, Pharez Witted, Derrick Gardner, Charles Heath. He recently completed a piano trio album of primarily original compositions, produced by acclaimed Chicago guitarist Bobby Broom, which is scheduled to be released September 2026.
